O’Malley hires former Bill de Blasio campaign manager as senior adviser
Source: Washington Post
Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley (D) has hired Bill Hyers, who managed New York Mayor Bill de Blasios campaign last year, as a senior adviser to the governors political action committee, OMalley aides confirmed Wednesday.
The move comes as OMalley continues to weigh a 2016 White House bid, which would likely pit him against Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination.
OMalley spokeswoman Lis Smith said that Hyers had been informally advising the PAC for a few months and would now be playing a greater role, though Hyers does not plan to work full-time for OMalley at this point.
Now that the midterm elections are over, he is stepping up his role as a senior adviser, Smith said. With his vast national experience on every level of campaign, we are thrilled to have him on board.

Governor Pat Quinn hired Hyers as chief strategist for his re-election campaign earlier this year, and a close friend I have who's deep into Chicago politics says he did a horrific job, including budgeting no money for GOTV on Election Day. I wouldn't get my hopes up about O'Malley's Presidential prospects.

(1,807 posts)1. Who is O'Malley think he's kidding?
He's a nice guy, but he's not done a great job in Maryland, and his handpicked successor lost handily here -- this in a state which is overwhelmingly Democratic!
He has zero chance outside of the Old Line state, and even here I wouldn't bet on him winning anything.

anyone want someone who used the police to round up mostly young black males every weekend in Baltimore?
