Obama, Sarkozy discuss oil reserves

President Obama and French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy apparently discussed the possibility of tapping their respective oil reserves today, though neither side declared specific plans.

"The president and President Sarkozy did discuss tightness in the global oil markets and agreed to continue their consultations," said White House spokesman Jay Carney. "I have no new announcements to make at this point on that issue."

There are reports that Obama may tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as a way to combat gas prices as well as offset the impact on new sanctions on oil exports from Iran; Obama would act in concert with other nations and their oil reserves, including the United Kingdom and France.

Obama and Sarkozy further discussed Iran and violence in Syria, according to a White House readout.

the price of gas around here has steadily been declining (although by not as much and as quickly as when it goes up) since the first spoke about it a couple of weeks ago. All I can say is keep talking fellas. Gas is down from 4.09 to 3.61 here in Mich where I live in the last two weeks.
