New Colorado lawmaker invokes 9/11 to blast Ferguson and Eric Garner protests

Source: Raw Story

A newly-elected Colorado congressman criticized fellow lawmakers, as well as the thousands of protesters calling for greater accountability for police, in a guest column for the Colorado Springs Gazette on Monday.

“When was the last time you heard someone call 911 to report an intruder in their home and ask for a congressman to come help them?” Rep-elect Ken Buck (R-CO) wrote. “Heck, Congress doesn’t have the courage to tackle tough issues, much less a fleeing felon.”

Buck, who was elected to fill the House seat vacated by Rep. Cory Gardner’s (R-CO) election to the Senate, opened his column by asking, “Have we forgotten 9/11?” and mentioning that 23 New York City police officers died during the terrorist attack on the city that day, as well as 37 Port Authority officers...

“To foist generalizations and wild accusations of racial bias on them is hypocritical, disrespectful, and dangerous,” Buck wrote. “Doing so won’t make minority communities safer – it will simply harm the morale of our law enforcement officers and endanger them.”

He flushed his chances last time around with some stupid, sexist comments about women during the campaign---but this time he made it in.

Not that I can cast any stones about brain-dead congressmen, since I'm from Texas.....

Ken Buck is, indeed, an embarrassment to Colorado, as are Cory Gardner and Mike Coffman, both of whom were also elected. I live in Colorado, and I was heartbroken to see the Republican brain trust of the state win so many elections. These guys are unbelievably stupid. One of the things that was so heartbreaking was that Gardner beat Mark Udall, our best senator (Michael Bennet is a DINO, in it for the money), and Coffman beat Andrew Romanoff, one of the smartest, most ethical politicians I've ever campaigned for.

BTW, I grew up in Texas, so I know the potential for stupidity among your congress critters, but I truly believe Colorado can now give you a run for your money.

Not when the people of my state have seen fit to put the likes of Louie Gohmert,, Ted Cruz and Dan Patrick (the one who failed at sportscasting) in high public office.

I lived in Colorado a few years ago, when Buck was flushing his campaign down the toilet. Sorry he prevailed, this time.

is in the Eastern, plainsy part and is pretty rural. 59% for Romney, one Democrat has been elected to that seat in the last 40 years.

in the last go 'round. The district runs from the Wyoming border on the north to the New Mexico border on the south, and abuts Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma along the way. It's a ridiculous geographic sprawl, and the people who reside in the district deserve far better than the pretense of representation we've been stuck with.

Ken Buck can never win a statewide election in Colorado, and got his ticket to Congress in a safe seat that Cory Gardner gave up to run for the U.S. Senate. I'm afraid we're stuck with him now, but hopefully he'll be a lesson to the rest of America.

I live in the county where's he's been DA. Prior to being DA, he lost his job at the justice department due to ethics violations. As DA, he helped to plan the immigration raid at our meatpacking plant, a raid that made news for exceeding the warrants issued and violating the judge's terms for holding those apprehended. He collaborated with the sheriff in a raid on a tax prep service that caters to Hispanics, confiscating the files and trolling through them in hopes of finding lawbreakers; he got smacked by the state supreme court for that, but was allowed to continue as DA. He has also engaged in costly unsuccessful prosecutions that were nothing but political retaliation. That he is a darling of the tea party is testament to that vulgar infection in this part of the state; his buddy the sheriff is now a state senator, occupying the seat formerly held by a bigoted homophobe who claimed to be a Christian; Buck's wife serves in the state legislature and finds it funny that she doesn't know the boundaries of her district. Buck was endorsed by Citizens United, his sheriff friend boasted endorsement from Ted Nugent. They are good buddies with the all-GOP county commission who tried for secession not long ago. They all suck.

The good news is that they do NOT represent everyone in the state. Really.

Little known fact. That's how they raised money for their flight lessons. So really it's tobacco products to blame for terrorist attacks and police killing unarmed citizens. It all comes together. Now you can see the big pattern. Also, Chewbacca. Why am I talking about Chewbacca? I don't know. It makes no sense. Look at the monkey. Look at the silly monkey.

and the Denver Post just had the gall to print a great editorial praising Udall for his stand and years of work to bring out the CIA torture. After endorsing and supporting all the dark money which helped to elect Gardner.
