Shots Fired Inside NYC Home Depot, 2 Dead
Source: Huffington Post
DCPI has confirmed with the Huffington Post that two people are dead following a shooting at a New York City Home Depot.
The suspect was an employee at the store and fatally shot his manager before turning the gun on himself, a spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed.
A witness at the scene, 30-year-old Marisa Cimarron, said she saw employees huddled in a corner of the store, sobbing as their coworker was wheeled out on a stretcher.

(9,126 posts)I mean, they're just for protection. Totally harmless. All the people who surround themselves with guns are completely rational and anyone who saw this suicidal murderer walking into the store with the gun should have just gone on shopping. Being afraid of someone with a gun is totally crazy! Why would anyone be afraid of a harmless gun?!?!?!?!
And yet...two people are dead.

(357 posts)Like NYC needs to have strictly enforced gun confiscation laws and I don't give a damn what the NRA says about it.
With it's thousands of cops there is no reason for any civilian in the city to be armed.
When seconds count law enforcement is only minutes away.
*you also couldn't pay me enough to visit that lawless hell hole let alone live there*

(597 posts)NYC's strict gun control means that events like this never actually happen, and onehandle is merely presenting a cautionary tale of what NYC might be like if the Sullivan Act had not brought gun violence in the city to a screeching halt back in 1911. The moral of the story is several-fold. 1) Gun control stops things like this from happening, just compare the NYC crime and murder rate to that of lawless gun-ridden pestholes like next-door Vermont, 2) Even if guns somehow did get into the city, the enlightened and liberal "stop & frisk" policy of Mayor Bloomberg would have caught the black male shooter before he could have done any harm, and 3) the extra spending on mental health services that gun control advocates ceaselessly campaign for would in any case have been there when this man's thoughts turned to suicide.
Next in onehandle's series of parables will be fictional tales of stabbings in NYC, since public knife possession is likewise prevented by the Sullivan Act, thrilling but fabricated stories of drug possession, an alternate history of law enforcement in a city with no laws to curb police abuse, and a clever piece of fiction about what NYC would have been like in the roaring 20's if Prohibition had not put a total stop to alcohol use.
Personally, I am unable to suspend my disbelief long enough to make his premises seem real, but others may find entertainment in his whimsical interpretations of reality and what the world would be like if Democrats were the party of authoritarian intolerance.
