CELAC requires US Guantanamo back territory

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) considered essential to return to Cuba the territory of Guantanamo currently illegally occupied by the United States (US), this as part of the actions needed to move forward in normalizing diplomatic relations with the Caribbean nation.

The need was expressed by a special statement, signed by the national coordinators of the organism during the meetings held between 26 and August 28 in Quito, Ecuador’s capital.

In the text, the agency believes that the return to Cuba “the territory occupied by the US Naval Base in Guantanamo should be an important element in this process, through bilateral dialogue attached to international law.”At that session she was attended by a Cuban delegation led by Abelardo Moreno, deputy foreign minister of Cuba.
