And Jesus said unto Paul of Ryan ...

'A woman who had been bleeding for 12 years came up behind Jesus and touched his clothes in hope of a cure. Jesus turned to her and said: “Fear not. Because of your faith, you are now healed.”

Then spoke Pious Paul of Ryan: “But teacher, is that wise? When you cure her, she learns dependency. Then the poor won’t take care of themselves, knowing that you’ll always bail them out! You must teach them personal responsibility!”

They were interrupted by 10 lepers who stood at a distance and shouted, “Jesus, have pity on us.”

“NO!” shouted Pious Paul. “Jesus! You don’t have time. We have a cocktail party fund-raiser in the temple. And don’t worry about them — they’ve already got health care access.”

social programs is that being charitable should be a personal choice. See, Paul Ryan thinks churches, etc. should be handling all the uninsured sick people, the results of natural disasters, feeding poor people. You can justify pretty much any evil with some twist on religion.

But he's not worried, because he doesn't believe that story himself.

None of these 'Christians' do, or they'd be scared shitless every waking moment of their lives.

the beggar, and the aforesaid rich man, when the latter begged to be allowed to warn his brothers of the hell awaiting them (generally speaking. There are good rich men ; just relatively considerably fewer) : 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'

Archbishop of Recife, Dom Helder Camara : '"When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why they are poor, they call me a communist." I expect you are familiar with it.
