An initiative, conceived in Finland two years ago, to change our attitudes to failure has proved so successful that it is generating global interest.

Organisers of the Day for Failure say they are taking phone calls from as far afield as Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey and Argentina from people keen to learn more about the campaign and set up their own events next year.

Day for Failure was launched in Finland in 2010 to help people be bold, for example, in business decisions even if it means taking risks.

In 2011, the campaign struck such a chord nationally that organisers Aalto Entrepreneurship Society and Boardman Ltd decided to go global to address the universal need for a change in the culture of failure.

This year, events were held to mark the day in at least 17 countries including Germany, Greece, Japan, South Korea, and Australia.
The aim is to make Day for Failure on October 13 an internationally-recognized holiday by 2020.
