President Obama to John McCain: You Got a Problem with Me Old Man?

President Obama to John McCain: You Got a Problem with Me Old Man?

-snip-

The president knows that McCain and Graham have nothing, and McCain’s promise to block Rice if she is nominated is just the old man trying to jump into the right wing media Benghazi conspiracy theory spotlight. Sarah Jones already covered the laughable hypocrisy of the man who tried to convince the country that Sarah Palin was qualified to be vice president questioning the sterling resume and qualifications of Amb. Rice. But if McCain wants to dance, Obama signaled today that he is more than ready to go.

Since winning reelection, Obama is flexing his political muscles in ways that we haven’t seen before. The president has been emboldened and strengthened by his victory, and he looks ready to take on all challengers. So far, Obama is doing a great job balancing his willingness to compromise, with a don’t screw with me toughness that is certain to give Republicans fits.

This isn’t the Obama of 2010. This is second term Obama, and he isn’t in the mood to play games with those who are looking to score cheap media points, like John McCain.

Here’s a little straight talk for the Arizona senator. Sen. McCain, listen to Obama. This president is ready to kick your butt all over D.C. He already took you to the woodshed once in 2008, and he is not afraid to do it again.

You are not some lowly tea party House member. You are a United States senator, so be smart and back off before Obama has bring the power of the POTUS down on your sorry backside.

People of all ages can behave badly, not just older people.

Cut out the ageism.

It is not becoming on a liberal website any more than sexism or racism would be.

never said that only men can be bitter

should I just say 'bitter'??

McCain is bitter, he is a man, and he is old

My post was about a man that described him
I might agree with you if I had used white to describe him
but then again there are a lot of white men and women that are bitter because they feel that they are losing their majority in this country. And that is the main thing that drives them that they are white.

I see white=old.

Frankly, I think that "white" is much overused around here, too.

Unfortunately, the liberal movement has changed since the days of Dr. King, and not for the better.

Should put Obama's head on a Superman body. Instead of an "S" on the cape, it needs to be an "O."

Obama doesn't need to compromise. The 'pubs are between a rock and a hard place. If they have any chance of survival as a Party, they will HAVE to work with the President and eschew the radical right-wing agenda. Toss those Teabaggers to the curb and those old, stupid, white men who don't have a clue about how a woman's body works or that pregnancy via rape or incest isn't really a good thing a good thing after all.

We'll see if any of that happens. But hey, I'm entitled to think that things just might improve... including Hell freezing over sometime time soon. I for one doubt it. But I'll spend a few minutes in Fantasy Land. Indulge me. I won't be there long. Just a few seconds.

And, I won't hold my breath lest I die waiting.

(Ok - I'm taking a deep breath and getting off my own personal high-horse.)

Whew!! I feel a bit better now getting that off my chest.

I totally agree with one exception:

Since winning reelection, Obama is flexing his political muscles in ways that we haven’t seen before.

I think we saw him "flexing his political muscles" during the last two debates. I knew he had it in him, and I think we are just beginning to see what he will accomplish this term. He does not have to worry about being re-elected, and this is a wonderful thing.

Great post. K&R

but we really have to appreciate the delicate dance he was forced to maintain in order not to frighten (read angry black man) and to assure the country he is graceful, understanding, patient, compromising, and accomodating. He can now, with the incredible mandate the country has given him, put on full display his incredible talent as a politician and statesman. We are so fortunate to have this man to lead our country at this critical juncture. Thank you fellow Americans for giving this man license to lead! Watch and learn!

I'd add that the first four years required an especially "delicate dance", and is part of the reason why so many progressive Democrats had expressed disappointment.

I had thought many times that he was playing a long game...and was looking beyond the first four years.

I also worried, and still do that the man could be a target of violence if seen by the far, far right nuts... as too liberal... too much for the people, and not the corporations.

That song has been sung before and resulted in extreme violence.

Most people don't remember that another great president who worked for the people, FDR, was almost assassinated prior to him being sworn in.

http://miami-history.com/attempted-assassination-of-fdr-in-bayfront-park/

Others standing next to him were killed.

It Obama was assassinated it would destroy this country....IMO

But I'm trying not to worry too much.

John McCain, the Chief of Angry Old Men (CAOM) shows in the video below what a hypocrite he is when he recently stated that Susan Rice "... is not very smart" when he states that "I graduated fifth from the bottom of my class at the Naval Academy."

And the cretin wouldn't have been admitted to the Naval Academy in the first place if it weren't for Daddy, who was the only hero in the family. Johnny was a poor pilot and had a history of problems flying before he crashed a jet in the ocean. He was no hero.

He is an embarrassment to the senate.

Finally, he chose Sarah Palin as his vice president candidate, who attended five colleges in six years. Dah.
