I grew up poor in the midwest so there were points from that but I know my world is now very upper class and isolated.

My Result --

On a scale from 0 to 20 points, where 20 signifies full engagement with mainstream American culture and 0 signifies deep cultural isolation within the new upper class bubble, you scored between 5 and 8.

In other words, you can see through your bubble, but you need to get out more.

2. Ah, more dumbing down of America

and "Let's attack the intellectuals" because only they live in Ivory Towers and are culturally isolated in their own bubbles.

I took the quiz, and I scored as I expected I would - quite high. Why? Because I have lived a rich life, read constantly, and pay attention to the world around me. I enjoy American beers. I have watched Oprah all the way through more than once. And I grew up in North Carolina in NASCAR country.

But equally, I enjoy imported German beers. I can watch multiple hours of CSPAN. And I can identify a photo of Yoyo Ma.

We all live in bubbles - culturally and otherwise. How about a quiz to see if the NASCAR type could identify a great painter or cellist? How about a quiz to see if the factory worker has read Dostoyevsky? How about a quiz to see if the Applebee's eater has also tried real Mexican food not from a chain or authentic Thai cuisine?

In other words, this should work both ways. As an educated and enculturated American, I can still be a weekend hunting, born-again Christian who has been exposed to atheism, Satre, and classic Italian horror films from the 1970's or vice versa.

6. Dumbest quiz ever. I scored a 2 - like most people in Manhattan.

I rode a Greyhound bus twice about 20 years ago and my parents were only HS teachers. Outside of those questions, I am in a thick bubble.

There is not one person in the world that can seamlessly go between any two groups of widely disparate individuals...teabaggers and liberals, fundamentalist Christians and any other belief system, meat eaters and vegans, whatever. If you took...oh, a homophobic PBR-loving, Chick Tract-distributing Reagan Republican from Kootenai County, Idaho, and dropped him into San Francisco, he would be in a thicker bubble than would be...oh, a liberal who drinks 30-year-old scotch and memorizes Noam Chomsky if you put him in Spartanburg, SC.
