I saw my first Christmas commercial yesterday.
K-Mart seems to be the first one out of the gate this year.

(36,286 posts)allowing people to pay off their purchases without interest before Christmas. That's a much better deal than putting something on the credit card in December.
Of course, the best option is to limit Christmas spending to something reasonable rather than breaking the bank!
But - just as I don't expect stores to be putting up manger scenes, I can't blame them for trying to push sales!

(950 posts)I worked at Sears; this was back in the 1990s.
The Christmas Shop Planogram came in for us in late August every year with instructions to begin setup either two days before, or one day after, Halloween. It depended largely on what the Regional Manager wanted to do but the one day after Halloween was the absolute latest the Christmas Shop could be set up.
So I was pretty sick of Christmas already before Thanksgiving even rolled around, LOL.

(36,286 posts)store clerks! Maybe, just maybe on Black Friday or the last week before Christmas, but 10 weeks is too much!

(950 posts)agree. Day after day, week after week, of tinny mechanical Christmas carols and "Ho Ho Ho" from an army of mechanized Kris Kringle's lining the shelves is enough to drive anyone to madness.
Fortunately, in the store I worked in, we turned the sound effects off, to our relief, and to the relief of more than a few of our shoppers. Of course if someone wanted to hear it, we'd switch it on, but the merchandise generally remained mercifully silent.
