The subject is an old one for the northern top of Calif, in Siskiyou County(see map), and Medford Oregon. I'm sure the "State of Jefferson" issue is in HS school civics text books by now. A movement they tried back in 1941, but were sidetracked when WWII started. And yes, there is a town in Nor-Cal called Weed.
