5. The other day in the checkout line....

...somehow a political discussion started up, with one lady screeching about Obama and "socialism"

I politely tried to get her to define socialism, acting like I really didn't know exactly what it meant. After a few seconds of stammering she managed to say that it was "socialistic" before changing the subject. The sad part is that she never missed a beat. The fact that she had no idea what she was talking about, seemed to become aware of that for a second, and yet did not change course.

I would have loved to ask her how she can yammer on so fervently about something when she doesn't even know what it is.
