The test is high stress, mainly taken on a computer (like all children even have access to that many computers for testing - obviously this is where Gates comes in and sees some mega profits from Federal $ waiting in the wings), and is trying to, once again, take a testing assessment and tie the test results to "performance pay" (which once again, politicians and wealthy have decided that no other policy could possibly account for test scores among poor and underprivelled districts is directly related to their evil hearted ways AND its all the teachers - anyone looking at the stats can see that the kids in schools of middle class wealth and higher, are aligned with other children around the world's academic standards).
I like the idea of each grade speaking to one another and developing an expectation of what children should be able to accomplish and know by the end of the year. This year, my kid is in this double test mode as well. They have an FCAT test, Stamford test, test in art, music, and PE + the writing assessment test, science test, and social studies test. He will be taking tests for an entire month. So they are now in "prep for the tests" mode. He has no new spelling word's lists for the rest of the year. They won't be introduced to any new words or their meanings (the teacher is only making lists of current words they are spelling wrong to have them get what they use and know correct). It's absolutely disgusting that nearly an entire quarter of the year is being spent on testing.
