4. I do not have his experience with anasthesia. I feel like hell after having it. I'm groggy

all day. I hate feeling like I'm drugged. The sleep part is really unconsciousness and does not count toward regular sleep. And of course you'd rather have it than not. But to me it is no fun.

Anyway I'm out of the picture now for that procedure. No family history and two normal outcomes and I'm old. So I'm done. I told the doc that when she said she'd see me in 5 years. I said "no, you won't."

5. It depends on what they use. I don't like Versed, I tend to wake up all at once

and usually in the middle of something. It wasn't fun to wake up during both eye surgeries, especially the transplant. IV Valium, on the other hand, is a little slice of heaven. As soon as I get home, I'm out again for about 8 hours of incredibly peaceful sleep.

I'd want to go back the next day for more IV Valium, too.

6. I woke up during the first one I had using just a sedative.

Now, because of all my abdominal surgeries I have to have general anasthesia and my doc said it is routinely used instead of just a sedative nowadays. But they touted the drug they used, saying I would wake up feeling refreshed. I did no such thing. I felt drugged, not alert at all and I felt that way the rest of the long day. I was pretty useless...
