The Putin System (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, 2007)

This video was originally broadcast in 2007, yet points to things that go a long ways to explaining Vladimir Vladimirovich's recent behavior.

For many years, I have been a Putin detractor. For the life of me, I do not understand what some people on the left see in Vladimir Vladomirovich that cause them to defend his most unseemly behavior. This is a man who persecutes homosexuals, winks and nods while right wing goons beat rock stars who are human rights activists, murders Chechens, rigs elections and invades nations that were once enslaved by the Russian Empire under the Romanovs and then later the Stalinists. He is a demagogue who whips up nationalist and imperialist passions in the Russian people and rides a political wave. The Russian people would do better to stop allowing themselves to be worked up by an authoritarian, autocratic imperialist demagogue and invite the bastard to a necktie party in his honor.

....because you have the one-sided perspective of someone on the right.

A perspective that apparently has no knowledge of similar behaviors right in your own backyard.

This country and its leaders have all that you accuse Putin of, as well. No one is sanctifying Putin's ass but you.

What he is is genuine. He's a genuine asshole.

Unlike that crap we elect who lie their asses off to our faces come election time, and then run and vote for corporations to ruin our lives.

- Maybe what you can't see, is because your eyes ain't open wide enough yet......

That's news to me.

Say, DeSwiss, thanks for the info. Next time I have a thought, I'll have to ask you what it is. You seem to know more about what I'm thinking than I do.

- I realized after years of trying that you can't teach anyone, anything. It all has to be LEARNED INDIVIDUALLY. The hard way.

That's what the GOP wants for the USA, mass destabilization from which they will build their own version of America.

When you look at their actions, there is no insanity as we are told, but calculated acts any student of Marxism iknows is societal change, just not the one we want.

And they haven't been shy about telling us how it's going to be what they're planning. They are putting it into action state by state.

A theocracy that is not bound by democratic or humanistic values, nor accepts the thinking of the Enlightenment concerning the rights of individuals.

Imagine the wholesale acceptance of conditions such as Warren Jeffs' cult with no state to oppose it.

The Russians have fallen back on the Orthodox Church to reset their means of survival as a template, nepotism and military service for whatever Putin believes will restore his vision of the historical glories of the past.

It all sounds familiar, the Bundies in NV, groups in eastern Ukraine, ISIS in Iraq and Syria, Boko Harum in Africa and so many other extreme authoritarian groups in other nations, and the ones being built in the USA.
