(2,075 posts)Yet hot, sensual, exciting, exotic! An ethnic American success story that stands in direct opposition to the angry white old men and conservative wingnuts who now run the Republican Party. So, let's go to the polls for Motown, and for a pluralistic society that celebrates our differences and diversity with equal opportunity for all and send those Republithugs packing!
I just thought I would put together a little list of top Motown hits as I see them, arranged by Artists:
Marvin Gaye: I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Sexual Healing, Let's Get it On, Ain't No Mountain High Enough (with Tammy Terrel)
Supremes: Stop in the Name of Love, You Can't Hurry Love, Love Child
Temptations: My Girl, Can't Get Next to You, It Was Just My Imagination
Smokey Robinson: Tears of a Clown, The Tracks of My Tears
Gladys Night and the Pips: Midnight Train to Georgia, Dancing in the Streets
James Brown: I Feel Good, Poppa's Got a Brand New Bag
Sam and Dave: Soul Man
Aretha Franklin: Respect, You Make Me Feel (Like a Natural Woman)
Four Tops: Can't Help Myself
I think those are some of the essentials. Any others?

(1,648 posts)Detroit was a "developed taste", that my friends and I loved. And Russ Gibb on WABX...the sound track of my youth, not to mention Dave Miller, my personal favorite announcer (Killer!) And of course, Motown kept the steady beat, chugging me through the 60s. Thanks for posting.
