(6,002 posts)absolutely guarantee illegitimacy of the election process. Each party plays idiot to the machinations of an obvious control of and rigging of our voting system. We ignore polls, the very tool and safeguard that we utilize when overseeing "fair" elections elsewhere.
I'm shocked at how little attention we pay to that even here. It really speaks volumes. Campaign finance reform be damned, we cannot even guarantee the sanctity of the vote, or a real accounting of it in our electronic voting booths, now add the other ways of screwing with the process...and nary a word is spoken except in alternative media.

(19,326 posts)"According to the "father of exit polling," the late Warren Mitofsky, exit polls are intended solely for academic analysis of voting patterns and opinions (e.g., what did 25 to 34 year-old white males regard as the most important issue?) and not as any sort of check on the validity of the votecounts. Unless, of course, you are anywhere else on Earth (other than America), where exit polls are routinely employed, often with the sanction of the government of the United States, as just such a check mechanism, and have frequently led to official calls for electoral investigations and indeed electoral re-dos.
In America, where votecounts in competitive and significant races consistently come out to the right of the exit polls (it is called the "red shift" , the media machine has waved off the exit polls, concluding, without so much as a quick peek under the hood of the vote-counting computers, that the exit polls must be "off" because they "oversample Democrats," conclusive evidence to the contrary notwithstanding. We're the Beacon Of Democracy, dammit--we don't need no stinkin exit polls! We're "one nation under God" so our elections must be honest!
Nonetheless, exit polls remain critical to whatever election forensics can be undertaken to assess the honesty and validity of our concealed and partisan-controlled computerized vote counting system from election to election. This is because all "hard" evidencememory cards, computer code, server logs, actual ballots where such existis strictly off limits to public investigation, being the protected proprietary dominion of a handful of secretive corporations (one of which is aptly named "Dominion" with ties to the radical right."

(6,994 posts)In 2000 after the election theft and Bush was appointed, Democrats and Democrats in leadership positions, for weeks and months kept telling us that "we are going to make sure this kind of election fraud/theft never happens again". Then all of a sudden things got quiet. In 2004 after another election theft Democrats for weeks kept saying "you know we are going to make sure an election fraud/theft like this never happens again" All those electronic machines were supposed to be banned that were flipping votes etc, etc.
Well of course Democrats won the Congressional Majority in 2006 and Republicans blamed Democrats for election fraud because Karl Rove was so shocked at the outcome.
Then in 2008 along came Barrack Obama that had such a fantastic election team put together that Republicans could not get close to to do the rigging. Even Diebold machines were so well scanned that Republicans could not get within in breathing distance of a fix.
...and then 2012 Rove was shocked again and Romney had his transition team picked and then what a shock.
The point I'm making is that ever since 2000 when all those voting machines and voting machine manufactures were suppose to be put to limits on technology inspection and voters were suppose to assured that our vote was properly counted. NOTHONG ever happen so even though 2008 and 2012 escaped the Republican vote rigging it appears that 2014 didn't. So here we are wondering about 2016 .Well they got away with another one and now they are probably thinking, "well hell that was easy". So look out Democrats we may be in for the grand election theft of two centuries. There is lots more money involved and maybe just maybe more techs waiting to become millionaires.
