(5,106 posts)Twenty dollars a month, or $240 per year is the minimum. After that it ranges on to $10,000 a year. I don't know what the minimum gets you, besides a video called "Be Healed." I'm wondering what "good works" evolve from these fees. Probably "spreading the Word."

So, I'll just go back watching CARTOONS on television, and pay whatever my CABLE company ask for it!

(31,493 posts)Over the past few months, columnist Colbert King of the Washington Post had used his columns to expose Pat Robertson's dealing in Liberia. In a series of articles King had sketched out Robertson's profit motives, and his quest to strike it in rich gold in Liberia, which has overriden any morality of doing business with one of Africa's most notorious tyrants.

This looks just like another story about an A**HOLE taking advantage of the Elderly.
It's moment like this, that I wish we would bring back Regulation(s) in the Open Market; I think it's long overdue!
If this is the same dude staring on the 700 Club TV show, do you know "why" the "7" "0" "0"?

(67,782 posts)....I watched that video and nowhere did he tell anyone to get a reverse mortgage in order to pay 700 Club dues or send money to him.
Let's be fair about it.
On the other hand, I recall back in the 1980s Jerry Falwell, during one of his end-of-year financial drives, he urged people to send him money so they could make their annual "goal". And, he told people that even if they didn't have the money "yet", they could date the check for the year in question (forget the actual year...1981, 1982, ???) but they wouldn't deposit the check until after January 1. Basically he was urging his followers to break the law!

It has always been used by Snake Oil salesmen to further obscured their real intentions and motifs.I am pretty sure most people have figured this one out by now.
Still, this issue, for me, brings back the memories of the first time I asked a Real Priest about "Cosmology" and "Theology".
I concluded after a long discussion on the subject, that the only thing the two have in common is that both never provided me ANSWERS, but only QUESTIONS!
Many years later, I finally understood the main reason for this: It's all about how MIND CONTROL really works best!
By being kept in the DARK, a SUBJECT(follower) always seeks the LIGHT. Then, and only then, both "Cosmology" and "Theology" rise up and provide the HOOK.
Ironically, I think this is "why" DIPLOMACY becomes such an effective tool of WAR;
Anyhow, maybe that's "why", Theology always sounded too much like Latin to me!
Amen!

(20,582 posts)but my former next door neighbour, a little old lady living in a house ready to fall down, with her one comfortable chair, a table, bed, and of course her little black-and-white-tv tuned to these thieves day in and day out, literally was starving herself in order to be able to walk down to the post office once a week to mail off her cheque. I knew of the cheques, as I was Postmaster here at the time and she had me address the envelopes for her, but had no idea how badly off she was at home until I moved into town right next to her. Her family had almost written her off as unreachable - she was absolutely taken in by these shows (I believe one was Robertson's) and nothing anyone said could make her realize she shouldn't be living like that - she was killing herself slowly. I hate these thieving scam org's with a passion.
