(4,305 posts)Thank you, Jews, for modeling tolerance for the rest of us. I think it is beginning to catch on with some of us.

You got it right, no one is forcing you to eat Kosher meals, except if you want to.

(111,275 posts)He doesn't get to tell Christians what to think any more than he gets to speak for all Christians.
I wish Christians who get the point would start repudiating this old bastard publicly.
He desperately needs equal doses of humiliation and laughter plus a pin to puncture that massively overinflated ego of his.

(135,425 posts)Jewish people don't mind the bacon-wrapped shrimp...they don't want to partake of it if they're following the dietary laws, but they're not trying to tell the non-Jewish people what they can or cannot eat.
Hey, I don't like beets, but that doesn't mean I want them outlawed!
Hasn't this idiot learned to live and let live?

(111,275 posts)so what seems to work in his life must be forced on everybody else.
He's absolutely the worst kind of Christian.

He doesn't like them. The bible says they're bad (it's in there somewhere; you just have to believe). We are a Christian nation (it's in the Constitution! Really!).
God-fearing Americans shouldn't even have to smell them cooking, much less see someone else eat them. And therefore beets must be outlawed.

(135,425 posts)If I let intolerance rule my heart (and my taste buds), I'd probably not only join that anti-beet church, I'd be the preacher waving the seed catalogue and pointing to the pictures of the beets with great scorn!!!!!

(38,187 posts)and don't have the money to buy enough airtime to counteract him. Ever noticed that? The ones like him are super rich and running their trap on TV all the damn time, but the ones who get the point don't have the power to get even close to equal time on air. Your post is spot on, btw.

(8,401 posts)Actually, enshrining the objections of (some) Christians (not all by any means) would be like passing a law preventing YOU from consuming bacon-wrapped shrimp because some Jews don't eat shellfish and pork!

(32,723 posts)There was a time when "Christians" claimed it was part of their religion to consider black people to be no better than farm animals.
They claimed having black people married in a church was as much of an insult to God as having pigs or cows married.

(22,822 posts)No, more like asking Jews to ignore the fact that some restaurants serve bacon-wrapped shrimp to customers who order it. They don't have to see it, smell it, or eat it.

(4,033 posts)And the biggest damn lesson that I was taught in that Christian household was to accept people as they were. My father was pro Civil Rights when Civil Rights wasn't cool. He almost got fired from the church he worked for (it was a really big church with something like 17 ministers on the payroll) because he signed the 'fair housing pledge' - one that said he would sell to any qualified buyer, regardless of race, color, or creed.
And that, not 'bacon wrapped shrimp', is Christianity!
