Jealous perhaps that the movie has made 250 million perhaps.....scared it will win the Oscar for Best Pictures....they could but I still think Boyhood will.

It brainwashed another generation of the need to go to war to "defend" the homeland — in another country.

We were the insurgents invading their country.

They were defending their homeland.

geared towards the next generation of young, impressionable, mostly males to get all gung ho about war.

This way there's always a fresh supply of 18-20-year-olds wanting to kill some ragheads or gooks or _aps or sand ni_gers or whatever the current racist term is when there's another profit making opportunity for the MIC — and Clint Eastwood is complicit in this big time.

I'm disappointed in Bradley Cooper though. I was a fan of his from the Las Vegas movies and Silverlining Playbook.

I guess it's hard to say no to Eastwood and risk getting blackballed.

But then I dont know. Hollywood is pretty liberal, seems like he could've found his way out of that.

on this film.

I am not.

IMO the movie glorifies that war where we invaded a country that was not responsible for 9/11 and had no weapons of mass destruction.

We were the insurgents in their country and they were the ones "defending their homeland", not Kyle.

Cooper got an Oscar nod but he's now complicit in this latest film that gins up warmongering in the minds of the current 18-20 year-old generation of potential cannon fodder for the military industrial conflict.

That's where I stand on it.

You apparently look at it differently. You were a fan of that war I take it?

Is part of the reason. I didn't serve in Iraq and Afghanistan, but was stationed in Italy, Korea, and Panama along with stateside duties and ships. I retired in 2011. I stick up for the movie because of all the negativity behind it. I thought the movie was ok. I exaggerated some of my post to equalize the negative responses. I understand and appreciate that you didn't like it. Soon it will be forgotten and another movie topic will take its place hopefully one that we all love.

dumber than a second coat of lead-based paint.

i cannot believe such a lack of cognitive dissonance exists, and on top of that an extreme desensitization to death and violence..what a dangerous mix..

and the youtube comments aren't much better....

This is what I would expect from people that are going to be entertained. Oh my goodness...what a hero. I just have to wonder how they would feel if the table was turned, and Iraqi's invaded our country, and had snipers picking off those of us who tried to get them the hell out.

I was so moved.....bullshit! It's Hollywood. Join the Army and be part of this tragedy, and then you can honestly say you are really moved. This whole subject just pisses me off. My sister is right, I need to get counseling, cause this is so wrong to me to be glorifying killing people we had NO business even engaging with in the first place. It's like glorifying killing the Vietnamese, who wanted little more than to have us get the hell out of their country and stop raping and plundering their lives.

I really think the whole thing is just fucked up. leave it to Mr. talk-to-a-chair to make a buck on this sort of garbage. It's what the repuKKKes are so good at. Glorifying war and imperialism...so long as THEY don't have to get their hands dirty.

The repugs love to go to war so their MIC clients/campaign donors/war profiteers can make humongous profits but neither they nor their own kids ever do any of the fighting.

They make sure of that.

Look at Romney, he spent time in France during the Vietnam war and his FIVE GROWN-ASS SONS, not one of them, ever served in Iraq.
