(5,069 posts)to say that arming Ukrainians will/would enable them to stand up to Russia......
I wonder if Clark's business ventures will be making any money from selling weapons to Ukraine?

(14,656 posts)IMHO the U.S. should not be involved period....but Victoria Nuland and others have spent taxpayers dollars to be certain that we are. I guess NATO can not get involved since Ukraine is not a member so, once again, the U.S. will try. TPTB really want war. Get ready!
Edit: It wasn't long ago, and many times since, I viewed a video of Wes Clark devulging our intentions of future aggressions. At the time I thought he was warning us. Today,l think he believes it is 'necessary'. Sad.

In this video Luke Rudkowski asks General Wesley Clark about a speech he made where he revealed pentagon plans for War with seven countries in five years. Clark's reaction speaks volumes as he does not say much and walks off when asked about Obama's handling of Syria, one of the countries mentioned in the pentagon plan.

Wesley Clark ought to know all about the PNAC plan, because he commanded the first PNAC war- the 78 day bombing of Serbia

(5,069 posts)'The longer the debate goes on, the greater the chance of comparing this to Hitler' - is total BS.
Clark should be ashamed for promoting this propaganda.

(27,137 posts)To dismiss using analogies in history because a damn nerd came up with an internet slogan is as about stupid as it gets.
- More non-thinking humans, just what we need.....

(5,069 posts)This is what the Hitler analogy appeals to - Context of any geopolitical conflict is irrelevant....I have long been a military analyst with specializations in Russian-Soviet military and politics for the US Government as well as academia and I have never heard anything so inane and stupid.
It seems that this analogy is like beating a dead horse and exploited anytime that there is a political leader we want removed.

As for Wesley Clark, he never met a war he didn't like before or after his retirement Let's not forget his authorization of littering Bosnia and Serbia with cluster munitions and depleted uranium in 1999. Bolstered by the Michael Moore endorsement in 2003 he drags out his anti-war credentials when expedient. But listening closely to his objections one realizes that they are oppositions to tactics rather than principled opposition.
Clark was,, is and always will be a war profiteer...Little is known about whom he is consulting for this (potential) conflict and how it serves his interests.

(57,936 posts)He is not a fanatic or a war-monger. He is a shrewd and honest strategist, and what he is saying makes sense. He has been to Ukraine. He is aware of the situation.
The unfortunate thing is that some who are fighting on the Ukrainian side are ugly fanatics. We need to be careful about who and what we fight for.
Also, we should not get sucked into a war on Russian territory in my opinion.
Russia should let the Ukrainian majority decide what is right for the Ukraine. And so should we.

US Trainers To Deploy To Ukraine
By Paul McLeary Defense News.com January 22, 2015
WASHINGTON American soldiers will deploy to Ukraine this spring to begin training four companies of the Ukrainian National Guard, the head of US Army Europe Lt. Gen Ben Hodges said during his first visit to Kiev on Wednesday.
The number of troops heading to the Yavoriv Training Area near the city of L'viv which is about 40 miles from the Polish border is still being determined, however.
The American training effort comes as part of a US State Department initiative "to assist Ukraine in strengthening its law enforcement capabilities, conduct internal defense, and maintain rule of law" Pentagon spokeswoman Lt. Col. Vanessa Hillman told Defense News...
