This is the mindset you've been supporting guys. Do you get it now? It's not just the audience that they regard as unsophisticated simpletons.

There's some conservatives I know, co-workers...working class blue collar, who are more or less self-hating, or at least self defacing. They truly do buy the notion that the PTB really do deserve to be put on a pedestal and aspire to be one of them. In fact, whenever I or someone else bash the one percent, they get really defensive. Now THAT is what I call being an ideologue.
Then there's the Atlas Shrugged teabaggers who are pro-corporate but still enjoy their union pay and benefits. Asked why they have such a dichotomy in views? Simple. Typical libertarian BS type logic. Basically, "it works for me, it's good for me". Now THAT is what I call being a selfish douche.

(42 posts)Yeah I have some coworkers who are working class types who think that someday they too will be millionaires because this is Murica and if you work hard enough you will become rich too! So when I bring up all the shady things the rich have done they too get defensive and tell me how "hard-working" the rich are and that they "deserve to keep the money they earned." It's like they are brain-washed. Yeah rich people go ahead and screw me over cause someday I will be rich and then I will be able to screw people over too! Yee-haw! I find it maddening. But they also love their Union benefits and pensions all the while kissing the corporate butt of people who would take it all away from them. Sure it makes no sense but right-wingers aren't exactly know for their smarts.

(5,364 posts)Plus, a lot of them use that pro-corporate dogma in attempt to sound insightful and "smart". If you keep picking away at them to where you know you've made them realize they're stance is illogical, they head immediately for the safe ground of the single issues they really vote on: religion, guns, race. All that "smart" talk seems designed to hide the silly reasons they actually vote on.

(590 posts)although I see some relatively smart (or educated) people, e.g. doctors on down, who also subscribe to TB mentality. To put it mildly, they've been programmed and there's precious little rational media to say they're wrong. They don't seem to recognize the contradictions or consequences. That's where losing personalities like Stewart make a huge difference. Also, to be a RW hate spewer doesn't take a lot of brain work, kinda like we used to (in the music biz) chide musicians who went to CW because of the money. (that was nearly half a century ago, so don't take offense)

(33,688 posts)is that you can't and don't know just how stupid you actually are. It takes some brains to realize that you just might be stupid. Interesting paradox, that: the dumber you are the less likely you are to realize that you are dumb.

(42 posts)That's the main problem. Stupid people don't know they are stupid. In fact most Teabagger types think they are quite smart. I've seen a number of them post really idiotic things and act like they just posted something brilliant. (Example: "The libtards says that Obama ain't a Muslim but his middle name is HUSSEIN!!!! Who else was named Hussein? SADDAM!!!! See that proves he is a Muslim too!!!!" It just makes me roll my eyes.

(11,833 posts)Much of the non-political content that makes its way onto the TPNN Facebook page is hosted by affiliated websites, among them one called Fights.buzz, which shows street altercations of the type that are banned from YouTube; Blessings.buzz, which despite its title posts non-religious content like Woman Saved From Bullet by Miracle Bra, and Viral.buzz, whose mission statement is self-evident.
All are owned by Todd Cefaratti, who is also the founder of TeaParty.net, a nonprofit dedicated to the advancement of the constitutional conservative values of the tea party, according to its website, and which took in close to $6 million in donations in this last election cycle, according to federal records.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) disclosure forms revealed that JoinTheTeaParty.us "took in approximately $469,000 in donations this year and spent roughly half its budget on marketing, with the rest going to distinctly non-political avenues." CBS 5 in Phoenix reported that there was no evidence that the group spent any money on promoting tea party candidates or tea party events. Most of the money was spent on promoting its own interests.

(135,425 posts)Look closely at those tea bags hanging off that dumbass to the left--why, they are LIPTON tea bags!!!!! Two points:
1. Sir Thomas Lipton was hardly an American patriot--he was a Scotsman!! Further, he didn't fire up his tea company until close to the turn of the (20th) Century...in Hoboken, NJ! You'd think they could have sprung for a box of Twining's if they wanted to get close to something half-assed accurate...at least that's a British tea!
2. Lipton Tea has an environmentally sustainable farm in ..... wait for it.....

(750 posts)Earlg resonates with me many times, plus with the graphics and the comments are worth waiting for. Actually Du has a natural penetrating nature seeking the truth.
Obviously the mainstream media cable or free air via news and commercial advertising is in a never ending way to write history delivered with a facade in unpleasant crime, murder, expressed with real hateful messaging patterns in radio about so called liberalism being undesirable.
It takes some time even if one thinks they are smart to have those sudden inspirations, that moment, that Dirac emotional time instance that makes your thinking to go Wow.
Some how things get translated here in DU through the murkiness of the mainstream news noise after reading some of the comments that are insightful.
More and more to agree with the hifiguy and many others the politics population control in America is worse than I thought. Perhaps we are living through the tragic comedy errors.
The Teabaggers pictured dont realize how much of a puppet they are, those strings holding the tea bags explain the behavior warped minds they have are easy to manipulate.
Those tea bags like weights that draw the curtains up and down in the Phantom of the Opera.
The real strings the ones we cant see those Richard Feynmans string theory is abstract proof along with Einstein suggestions about energy that spooky stuff that works at a distance.
We have expert minds that have mastered the Eigen fields, some of the academics are key players of the culture of corruption.
