Related: About this forum"Senator Defazio" in 2016, speaks on why he should be Oregon's next senator in 2016!...
Time to start the primary season with this great congressman, and to note with the events of this past week, we need him as our senator now!
He has the right perspective on climate change too...

And though Wyden has been a good voice against domestic spying with his latest effort to work with Rand Paul on the filibuster of Patriot Act, we won't lose anything with Mr. DeFazio also being a strong voice on these issues too!

(40,416 posts)He is the only Congresscritter who, when he makes a speech on the floor, always gives one the impression that he is somehow restrained from just screaming "This is all fucking bullshit!"
He always has that sphincter pucker element to his speeches. One senses that he is just at the edge.
And good for him!
That is why he would make a great US Senator.
Love the guy!

(19,537 posts)I found this video calling him "senator", and have felt he needs to be there now with the TPP vote, etc.
It's up to all of us to call his offices to let him know he should run in 2016. Here's the link to the contact phone numbers he has in Washington and in Oregon.

I've already done so earlier when this whole mess had started. I think especially if you are one of his constituents, let him know he should run.
And if you have any recommendations as to who should run for his seat in his district to keep that crazy bum Art Robinson out of congress, let him know that so that hopefully he finds someone he trusts that people want and that he feels will do the right job there to allow him to run for the Senate.
And, though Wyden's been good on issues with domestic spying, etc., the TPP isn't the first time he's made some bad mistakes with Republicans. Note how he got in a messy situation with Paul Ryan on his Medicare plan, etc. that he was trying to back away from here...

(57,936 posts)And we will not be able to appeal the decisions of the TPP "court" which is not really a court but an arbitration proceeding.
In fact, we won't be able to insist on consistent law, stare decisis or even law based on precedent when it comes to the decisions of the international arbitration courts.
Those courts are a terrible abomination. We should end the NAFTA court. DeFazio lists several decisions already made that seriously infringe on our democratic traditions and values.
Thank you, Representative DeFazio. Well said.

(2,412 posts)I am in with a checkbook and two strong legs. Oregon needs to send Senator Wyden back to New York. He no longer represents us.
His staff is comfortable, arrogant and distant. We are tired of being misrepresented, tired on having only occasional town halls in the most populous counties in Oregon and tired of no access to the senator and his staff.
It is time for Rep. De Fazio to step up and serve us as he has all along. We are ready!

(15,082 posts)We are progressive Oregonians and would love to support his campaign. We need the deepest blue Senate we can muster. And his house seat is pretty safely Dem.
