this be a renewed warning to Occupy to not allow violence. Occupy had the support of the majority of Americans last year because they were so cool that their messages bubbled up. Keep Occupy violence free.

Hi to the people of democratic underground!

About the smoke bombs. I'm from Montréal and it's true that some people are p-oed about that and some are not I don't necessarely agree with that type of activity but I wanted to say a few points.

First of all, none of the student associations DID endorse this action. There are some suspects but no arrests and no revendication where made. So how can we truly know who did it? It might be a fringe group of the students. There's some radical people in there it's true but could it be the governement too? Who knows until a investigation is done.

Secondly some media ar really playing the scare tactics and trying to make people angry instead of reporting news. To them ALL students are at fault. They probably study fox news.

The mayor of Montreal said that violence is unaceptable in any form. YET 2 people lost an eye and one kid is between life and death. The first kid that lost an eye was playing harmonica and the anti riot cops launched flash grenades at the hight of people's head. Even amnisty international did a report about how the police is too represive.

The last point I wanted to say is that before all of the escalation there were weeks and weeks of peacefull demonstration. The 22nd of march 200 000 + people marched in the streets and the police pubicly said that it was an amazing organisation where no violence occured. Guess what was the reponse of the governement was when asked to NEGOCIATE (not give free school to everyone, just negociate) it was NO!
