Daryl Davis with the KKK

Daryl Davis is an R&B musician, author, actor and bandleader. Known for his energetic style of Boogie-woogie piano, Davis has played with such musicians as Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bruce Hornsby, and Bill Clinton.[1][2] His efforts to improve race relations, in which as an African-American he engaged with members of the Ku Klux Klan, have been reported on by media such as CNN and The Washington Post.[3][4][5] Davis summed up his advice in an interview with the London Daily Mail: "Establish dialogue. When two enemies are talking, they're not fighting."

I would never go to that extreme with a goddamn racist. Mr. Davis just has a slant on life that the Klan has never had. That KKK member didn't change. Such bullshit. I will never respect a KKK wizard, ever. Just fucked up as a piece on human relations. Disgusting and insulting. I would engage the wizard alright.

Sorry that it pissed you off. Your post brought back to mind something that a guy said about Senator Robert Byrd when he was very sick and just before he passed. Just like to share it with you because some people can change if given a chance. Here is the email he sent me some years ago when some of my feelings were similar to yours...

“I am a middle aged African American Muslim male. As a child I experienced the Watts Riots, the chaos after the assassination of MLK. I remember experiencing racisim for the first time as a child born in the west and transplanted to New Orleans during the erosion of overt segregation in the south. I also remember of all people, George Wallace ,apologizing for his racist past. I remember that Chief Justice Brennan, also a former Klan member , was responsible for some of the most far reaching opinions in favor of social justice and civil rights. For all what we imagine separates whites and blacks in this country in particular, there are ties and bonds unseen that keep us together.Senator Robert Byrd has seen it all in his 90 years. As my grandma used to say.." What he has forgotten you could make a whole other world with". The capacity for someone raised in the times and environment he was is truly remarkable and testament to his great character and courage. I have ENORMOUS respect for the senior senator from West Virginia . May God bless him and give him long life as well as give him peace here and hereafter.”

I figured some people deserve to be heard, this is JUST MY Opinion, no harm intended.

just have had different personal experience with these hooded clowns than Mr. Davis. Yep he's a better man than I. I am AA man of 67. I witnessed some very ugly things done by these people, in Georgia, and my family has a rich history of standing up to their hate, violently sometimes. I guess it all depends on experiences. No harm. Maybe your post can help, what the hell do I know?
