A rally for religious liberty was held Thursday in Nashville, but Kentucky dominated the conversation.
In fact, Joe Davis -- the husband of Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis who was jailed for five days after defying a federal judge's order to process same-sex marriage licenses -- and some of his wife's supporters spoke at the rally in front of the Tennessee Capitol.
The rally took part on the steps of the state courthouse steps. Hundreds of people attended and many spoke of the importance of standing up for Christian beliefs, saying they are under attack.
Thursday's celebration of Constitution Day also brought Rafael Cruz, the father of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, a presidential candidate. Cruz didn't directly ask the crowd to vote for his son but did say the country needs to elect a constitutional conservative who will end what he called the religious persecution of Christians.

(8,401 posts). . . to "every single Christian." There are many Christians -- although they are probably to be found more in mainline than in evangelical denominations -- who are just as disgusted by the evangelical culture of victimhood as is Molloy, who know full well there is no "war on Christians," who fully and unequivocally support the separation of Church and State, and who are well aware of the (often unfairly) pre-eminent place at the table Christianity has historically occupied in this country, and who make no denials of Christianity's well-documented history of persecuting others.
Such broad brush statements are bound to be inaccurate.

(590 posts)but, for the ones I know, quite accurate- that would be (a) baby boomers (b) not okay with a liberal-sounding pastor or a fire-and-brimstone one either... the pastor must be angry at how unsuccessful they seem to be (us against the world), judgmental of everything they don't understand, ergo Republican.
