I hope that each time this monologue is re-posted or referenced that at least one more person has a chance to see it for the first time and be moved by its message.

Humanity is trapped in a vicious circle of pointless hate, mindless violence and endless retribution. We are enslaved to a desire for the material and parochial and have averted our eyes and muted our wonder. Looking at that image and hearing Sagan's words read by him always makes me sad in some way. He was lost early but his ideas and his sense of wonder at the universe lives on.
