(22,900 posts)amazing how Clinton brings out the stupid in some people.
Especially those who think that she has changed her views on things. Actions speak louder than words.
She says that she wants corporate money out of elections, yet takes it. How am I to believe that? Am I stupid to doubt her? I don't think so.

Supreme Court appointments, for one, are crucial if we don't want the GOP to roll back every gain we've made in the last 8 years. Yeah, I know. Bernie!!!!!!
RoccoR5955
(12,471 posts)members of Senate to stop any Supreme Court appointment. It's been done before (Bork) it can be done again. If we elect Democratic members of congress the same thing shall happen and nothing will be rolled back, because they will not have the votes.
Your point is therefore moot.

(1,786 posts)As has been well documented over the last 8 years.

(22,900 posts)to voting for Romney. Or that voting for Gore was equivalent to voting for Bush. Wake up and vote!

(8,812 posts)And some progressives might've even reluctantly agreed.
But Bernie proved that's BS.
Whoops!
Bring on the next lame excuse.

(17,989 posts)....I'm not the one seriously advocating cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Whats best for the country, given the REAL situation on the ground, ain't always perfect. That's fucking life. Get use to it. We work for better, but don't always get it immediately. Act juvenile and you sure as hell won't get anything better.

(17,989 posts)+97K in Florida alone. Had 537 of those single votes in Florida gone to Al Gore, how many US military personnel might still be alive? What might the Middle East look like today? Elections do have consequences. Staying home pouting has consequences too.
You may not like the Democratic candidate. She's certainly not my first choice. Not my second, third or fourth for that matter, but the alternative is far, far worse.

(17,989 posts)...had Nader not been in the race, there would have been no damn recount, no controversy, and Katherine Harris would be some obscure, FL Republican no one outside of FL had ever heard of. Gore would have won without question. Nader voters in FL should give themselves a good ole pat on the back for 8 years of W, thousands of dead Americans and God knows how many Iraqis.
Had Nader not been in the race, and those 97K simply stayed home and pouted, we would have ended up with the same outcome...8 years of W. How we vote in elections HAS consequences If enough of us act stupidly, well, we get what we deserve.

(17,989 posts)Regardless, had just a few thousand of those idiotic Nader voters used their freaking brains for once, there would have been no SCOTUS interference. Gore would have won narrowly, but without question.

It's idiotic NOT to vote for the person who wants to fix and enlarge the ACA, not get rid of it and throw millions of "uninsurables" into high-risk pools.
It's idiotic NOT to vote for the person who wants to raise the minimum at least to $12 and higher for those cities and states who want it.
It's idiotic NOT to vote against the person who wants to build a wall between here and Mexico and thinks we can get Mexico to pay for it.
It's idiotic NOT to vote against the person who called for a ban on Muslims coming to the U.S.

(3,982 posts)The more I learn about Clinton's role and effect on this administration the more concerned I am.
I just read the New York times story about Clinton's Military mentor which is another link to NeoCons. And it also turns out that Hillary has had a very large role in turning our embassies into war fronts (basically pushing the diplomacy into the back lines).
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/24/magazine/how-hillary-clinton-became-a-hawk.html?&_r=0
Jack Keane is one of the intellectual architects of the Iraq surge; he is also perhaps the greatest single influence on the way Hillary Clinton thinks about military issues. A bear of a man with a jowly, careworn face and Brylcreem-slicked hair, Keane exudes the supreme self-confidence you would expect of a retired four-star general. He speaks with a trace of a New York accent that gives his pronouncements a rat-a-tat urgency. He is also a well-compensated member of the military-industrial complex, sitting on the board of General Dynamics and serving as a strategic adviser to Academi, the private-security contractor once known as Blackwater. And he is the chairman of an aptly named think tank, the Institute for the Study of War. Though he is one of a parade of cable-TV generals, Keane is the resident hawk on Fox News, where he appears regularly to call for the United States to use greater military force in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. He doesnt shrink from putting boots on the ground and has little use for civilian leaders, like Obama, who do.
Keane first got to know Clinton in the fall of 2001, when she was a freshman senator and he was the Armys second in command, with a distinguished combat and command record in Vietnam, Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia and Kosovo. He had expected her to be intelligent, hard-working and politically astute, but he was not prepared for the respect she showed for the Army as an institution, or her sympathy for the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families. Keane was confident he could smell a phony politician a mile away, and he didnt get that whiff from her.
I read people; thats one of my strengths, he told me. Its not that I cant be fooled, but Im not fooled often.
Clinton took an instant liking to Keane, too. She loves that Irish gruff thing, says one of her Senate aides, Kris Balderston, who was in the room that day. When Keane got up after 45 minutes to leave for a meeting back at the Pentagon with a Polish general, she protested that she wasnt finished yet and asked for another appointment. I said, O.K., but it took me three months to get this one,? Keane told her dryly.
Clinton exploded into a raucous laugh. Ill take care of that problem, she promised.

(656 posts)We are going to cling to no matter what the outcome is, we will not support any Candidate who lie's thru their teeth just to become the President of this Country. We will not compromise in any way shape or form pnwmom, we have been sold down the river long enough and will no longer hold our noses going to the polls to vote, for this family it is Bernie or nothing and many of our neighbors and friends feel the same way.

(22,672 posts)Not voting is just about the most unpatriotic act a citizen can undertake. You talk politics on your radio show, which means, that if you don't vote, YOUR VOICE DOES NOT MATTER. You might as well pack it in, because I won't give the time of day to anyone who chooses not to vote.
What a terrible message to broadcast. Very disappointed in you.

(22,672 posts)I've listened to his radio show and many rants, because I assumed he voted or votes. But, like I said, if you don't vote, I'm not going to listen to any opinion or gripe you have after the election. Voting was your chance to voice your approval and disapproval. Not voting, means you don't have an opinion.

(20,453 posts)You might have heard him say this a couple of hundred times over the years, if you had been a listener.
Mike Malloy doesn't claim to have answers for people, but he sure does foster, along with his listener, the exact issues that need to be voiced, including a primal scream on many of the ongoing injustice. He's not there to advocate anything BUT this dialogue.
It's the truth, which may not be as comfortable for you to hear at times. You don't need HIS vote, you need your own.
