Instead, only the people wealthy enough to fly see it. Seems like it would be better put somewhere the people could see it like along the 405.

Jet Blue and South West aren't for the wealthy.
I doubt they use those airlines.

OK, I get your point. My last flight was less than $15 plus fees with Spirit. It was a terrible experience and took me nearly 16 hours to get from SFO to LAX, but it was still over seven times faster than walking.
