(53,661 posts)You can contact the US Government in Boulder, CO, or some place like that for a list.
I used to know some grant writers in the past, and some people wanted me to help them writing theirs, but I never had the time.
As far as myself getting anything, I figured there would be strings attached and never applied.
Did anyone here at DU ever make use of these programs to small business, or other things?

(5,955 posts)The crooks have moved on to more sophisticated methods of stealing public money. "Privatizing" the people's assets to your pals for pennies on the dollar during a crisis is the best example. Applying for obscure government givaways is so...1985.

(32,723 posts)Sure. And maybe this video will jar the brain bucket of a FOX "News" viewing work ethic enforcing moran,(....I mean relative) that "government benefits" doesn't just mean supporting lazy welfare types. Government's role is to help small business start ups and enable people to become professionals to improve their lives and society as a whole.
And it's only recently that tax grumps started calling people "freeloaders" for applying for grants and low interest loans from the government.

(32,723 posts)Years ago I got a grant to start a business. Built it up from nothing and then sold it.
Those grants and loans are there to build our civilization. To create our doctors, our factories, our retail markets, improve our homes and our lives. Even to advance our culture.
This guy profited by selling info already available for free from the government.
Talk about a zero wholesale cost product!

(5,955 posts)Typical Republican funder: uses obscure grant programs that regular people don't know about to get government grants and uses them to make a fortune. Then uses obscure loopholes in the Tax Code to either avoid paying taxes, or move the money to the Cayman Islands where it's out of reach. Then donates some of that fortune to the GOP, who get elected by bloviating about the Government "wasting the taxpayer's money." The GOP then gets elected and 'privatizes' all of the peoples' assets to crooks like THIS. Nice racket.

(5,955 posts)And for some reason the GOP sees nothing wrong with an uber-rich guy being subsidized $20 000 of taxpayer money to help buy a mansion, but a minimum wage black woman taking $1000 worth of food stamps so her kids won't be malnourished is somehow the scum of the earth, and an 'abuse' of taxpayer dollars.

(32,723 posts)There was some challenge a while back where rich ass reporters had to live on that for food and they acted like they were fucking heroes for their two or three weeks of suffering and then went right back to reporting how awful it is for poor people to get too much damn money.
