Really clever and well-shot. I remember being delighted with it in the theater. I wonder: Did they really make refrigerators that were lead-lined (as the label in one shot of the scene states)? I'll have to google this.

Update 3 Mins Later: OK, the scene is so famous it's been analyzed in great detail online. Apparently, the lead-lined household refrigerator was a stretch, as lead-lined refrigerators were only special items used for storing nuclear materials in labs (then and now). Furthermore, the amount of shielding those lab fridges offer is very modest, not nearly enough to protect someone from the radiation emitted by an atom bomb blast.

small small desk frames, in millions of neat little rows, all the wood burnt off of them, and all the flesh seared off the tiny skeletons underneath.

Well, there was lot of blustering and drama before that, but that's what both sides wound up with.

That was our strategy, kiddies.
