(3,596 posts)I don't hate Mitt Romney (at least not yet). I despise the policies he advocates for our nation and what he stands for. But, unlike the un-Christian (un-Jewish, un-Muslim, etc.) views expressed by those that call themselves conservatives, I don't hate him as a person. I don't wish him to get a disease, suffer, etc.
Because liberals/progressives are generally a more forgiving type, we don't harbor the same level of hate or dislike of RMoney as conservatives do for Obama. For them, this non-white, articulate, educated, no I don't praise Jesus' name every other sentence guy, is not like them. He is evil.
So perhaps it is right that whatever RMoney raised (at least from individuals) was more about their hatred of Obama rather than support for RMoney whereas Obama supporters contributed because they truly believe in this man and want to see him succeed and not because they hate Mittens.

I think Romney is more deserving of pity than hate. He's going to do everything he can to get the Right to love him, but they'll always despise him for the simpering lapdog he is.

(22,758 posts)yes... it is as if he really only wants to be president as a personal goal to attain... no more than that

(11,175 posts)You're thinking of Gollum, the Tolkien character who cared only about getting the ring.
Golem is something different: "In Jewish folklore, a golem is an animated anthropomorphic being, created entirely from inanimate matter." (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golem)
Works either way.

(382 posts)I don't hate Mittens, but I hate his personality, his waffling, his constant lying and his singing. But I do have some appreciation for his existence. He's a very poor candidate, shallow and lacking all necessary attributes to be president, except for good looks. So he is the perfect sacrificial lamb, and for that I am thankful. However, if by some miracle of voter suppression, voting machine fraud and or Supreme Court atrocity he should become president, then my dislike for and constant amusement of Mitt will surely turn into the same feelings I have for Shrub, Reagan and Nixon. Hatred.

(45,984 posts)Give Rmoney time and maybe he'll start a war on false pretenses, do nothing while an entire US city drowns or burns or violate civil liberties and conventions of war wholesale (we already know he's going to open the treasury to corporate cronies). Until then, the answer is no, and I hope Rmoney doen't get the chance for me to think any worse of him than I do.

(10,893 posts)Of course not! He even went to the NAACP and said he would be a better president for us in the AA community, and would get us off of "entitlement programs." He's got our back!
