Related: About this forumNew Adam Curtis Documentary: HyperNormalisation
This latest documentary is a more refined look at major historical economic and ideological points that brought us to today's politics -- how major players decided that reality, facts didn't matter, that reality and fiction could be blurred by "perception management," that dramatic stories could be told to manipulate and distract the American people while leaders tried to deal with the complexities of "growing globalism."
Adam Curtis had me back in 2011 with All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace.
Most of his documentaries are old footage of how our economics/politics really are, how they got that way. This particular documentary is about how the current system has gotten out of the control of the visible players on the planet.

(270 posts)Thanks for the post ancianita.
I really like his style of documentary filmmaking though not for the short of attention. Each one is like a college lecture. The detail and imagery are really intense.
I would recommend All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace for anyone that is interested in the real story of Ayn Rand/ Alan Greenspan. This 3 part documentary is available on Vimeo.

Another one is The Power of Nightmares. (from Wikipedia) "The film compares the rise of the neoconservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, drawing comparisons between their origins, and remarking on similarities between the two groups." This 3 part documentary is available on YouTube.

(36,016 posts)This one's quite a doozy.
I've seen all his stuff. It's good history.
I posted this in the interest of holding a larger world perspective along with our intense groupthink going into election day.
Welcome to DU.
