Just listening to her in that clip, I started shaking my head and realizing that she is the final nail in the coffin for the death of education in the US.

That's not a bug, that's a feature. That's exactly what the GOP intended with her as the pick. It's the same pattern we're going to see with all of Trump's cabinet picks. There will be two main types. #1, like Dept. of Education, will be people who are woefully inadequate and completely unqualified for the position. This will cause the department in question to buckle and crumble, and all of those small-government Tea Party hacks can point and say, "See? Government can't do it. It should be free enterprise, business can do it better." #2 will be like Trump's Secretary of State pick, which will just be the foxes guarding the hen house. The people in this column are there to loot the larder, remove regulations, and leave the path open for money to flow back up to the corporations that want more profit. They will be quietly super-efficient at their jobs of stripping protections of the most vulnerable, just so that the profit motive goes unhindered.
