with educating the kids that private and charter schools don't want, and there are a lot of those. But that takes money and they will be badly underfunded for what they have to deal with.

a few years ago complaining about the Poor Ratings they were given. "Well, all we are getting are the failing students from Public Schools." "We AREN'T getting the A and B Honor Roll students". Hello? As a parent, why would mess with SUCCESS when you child is doing very well in a Public School? Forget the special needs students. Charters would not even take them in the first place. Additional services.

My daughter in an inclusion teacher and has also worked in regular classrooms in a poor, rural school so I have a unique perspective. She works with kids most private and charter schools wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.

Public schools are required to take all kids, no matter their problems. Some have behavioral issues, some health issues, some cognitive issues, and some family issues... among other things. I wish some of the people who slam public schools all the time had to spend time in an average classroom to see how hard teachers work with so few resources these days.
