URGENT Message from Standing Rock as Police Surround Their Camp
My dear friends in Standing Rock sent me this video, produced by women, featuring women, & asked me to share it with you. Militarized law enforcement have now surrounded their camp.

2. Two members of my university department plan to go to Standing Rock this weekend.

One asked what I thought might happen--would they be at risk of being beaten, arrested, shot?

I said I thought they might well end up arrested, and that of they were arrested, they might not be handled gently. I told her to make sure they had her phones charged and that they needed to use one of those automatic upload apps for video, just in case the authorities grab or destroy their phones.

If she and our other colleague do end up arrested, especially if they are abused in the process, I told her to contact me and I would come here and ask everyone at DU to make sure we make a huge stink about it, and make that stink go viral in a big way.
