(662 posts)We allowed the GOP to redefine LIBERAL is dirty socialism, anti free markets and anti business. We let the ROVES and Norquists tell the world who we are, when in fact, it is the GOP that is sick, anti democracy because it is inefficient and unwieldy and too difficult to MANAGE from top down. We allowed the GOP/TPARTY the most reprehensible group of propagandists in recent history used 9/11 to confuse our people, make them feel helpless in the light of TERROR and cowered us as a people. Look at MI, where TAXATION without REPRESENTATION is back on AM soil, in the EFMS. Look at FL, where the governor is a master thief who got away with stealing millions from MEDICARE and then was given the keys to the state treasury by the people. Look at OH and PA, where the GOP is blatantly using every avenue to suppress the VOTE and win their states for ROMNEY. And how about TX, the great state, of what? TXs Rick Perry is starving his people, denigrating women and giving plush state jobs with enhanced salaries to his political donors.
There is nothing dirtier, more reprehensible and vile than current GOP/TPARTY fiscal policies and the methodologies to STEAL elections are very clever and deceptive. THE GOP cannot win on their ideas, so they lie, cheat, steal and denigrate. And worst of all the DEMS have let them get away with their hateful mean spirited tactics since Ronald Reagan turned on the poor and busted unions.

(36,974 posts)We have many wonderful and great things here in Texas and among them are all of the DEMOCRATS that live here
AND
Texas is NOT as red as some folks think it is
In 2008 Obama won the 'counties' that Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso are in: Travis Co., Dallas Co., Harris Co, etc.
In 2008 over 3.5 MILLION Texans voted for Obama. I think there will be even more in 2012.
In Texas there was only a 11.77% difference between Obama and McCain, which was much less than many of the other red states.
There were 15 red states that had a larger margin of votes going to McCain than Texas did.
List of 2008 U.S. Presidential results by state here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_u.s._presidential_election#Result
The only really big city McCain won down in here 2008 was Ft. Worth/Tarrant Co.
they're a bit more redneck over there.
our county near Ft. Hood is very close to turning blue. It was a pink county in 2008 and 2010. We Democrats are really trying to keep a more balanced governance here.
