I'm missing a good reason not to release the evidence here. At least, not a good reason that wouldn't also suggest they were careless to claim credit AT ALL.

and as this video reminds us, the administration's attitude toward whistleblowers hasn't been all that friendly. But I gather you get that.

As to being careless for claiming credit, perhaps what you don't know is the claim came in the form of a printed letter delivered to a third party's PO box. While any kind of online posting would have been traceable, this way the government can only go to the recipient and demand that the letter be turned over. Then- assuming the recipient saved the envelope- all they would have to go on would be a post mark. And that's assuming that they even mailed it from their local post office, which I would imagine they didn't.

because that's complete bullshit.

There are a number of things about the attack and how it was prevented and what was done, that would not reveal anything at all about the people who did the work.
