While New Jersey Governor is all about the help from the Federal Government now, not too long ago Christie was turning down help from the Obama Administration. Was the storm a philosophical game-changer for Christie, or is he just playing politics with an eye on 2016's Presidential race?

(5,946 posts)Most of my family did not have electric for 2 weeks and we are scattered all over, most of my friends did not have power either. I lost my vacation place, as did all my neighbors down there. My garage roof has a few holes in it, can't get anyone out to repair it, they are too busy repairing houses.

(1,288 posts)although I lament that it took a tragedy of this size. Best to you and yours there.
If Christie's change of heart is real, then why shouldn't he do a switcherroo to the Democratic Party? There doesn't seem to be room left for him it the GOP, no pun intended.

I will give Christie this, he did do his job then, but that might be to make up for the disaster response to the snowfall when he was inaugurated and left for vacation and allowed his deputry to leave for a family crisis and missed the big snowstorm that literally kept me at home for a month. I had 6 foot snow drifts against my garage and had the flu at the same time, so I did not attack it right away, but a few days later - at that point it had turned to ice pack, it was 3 feet high frozen into place. And no one was left on charge. If he had done that again, it would have been the end for him.
Anyway for most people in Jersey, the beach is a special place of your youth, running and swimming.
