I think we have around ten. VCR remotes, old TVs etc. For some reaso we don't get rid of the remote - afraid I may want it again, I guess.

(32,822 posts)I've got lots of Sony remotes for stuff I don't own any more in case I lose one of the remotes.
I've also got TV's and stuff in my basement or stuff I've thrown out and forgotten about the remote.

(32,822 posts)Bought it for $10 without the remote. I can't find the right universal control codes to get the Blue-Ray player itself working so I'm using it as an amp in bedroom.

(30,947 posts)It's the remote for a useless DVD player, which got fried during an electrical problem. Whenever I have a problem with my Comcast remote, I just trade it in for a new one.

(16,334 posts)My sister had a newish hd tv but she couldn't figure out why it kept asking her for a code. Apparently, it had parental settings or something. So she gave the tv to my mom. My mom hated it and lost the remote. She gave the tv to me and my husband used one of our old remotes to change the password. It's still a pain in the butt to use a pw every time, but it's a great tv!
Uverse has one remote so the remotes that came with the tvs are in a basket. We can't use the uverse remote to enter the password but that's ok.
