I've never had a gall bladder attack, until now..........and they suck!
Pain, nausea, some vomiting........yuck.
The pain's really getting me down. I took half a vicodin, but the pain's still here.
So, if you would, some patented Lounge vibes...
Thanks.

How do you know it's a "gall bladder attack"?

Should you be going to the hospital? Don't be a procrastinating dummy like that MFM sometimes is.

(28,945 posts)The lap surgery is a breeze. Had mine snipped. I was knocked out at 10am, back home 3:30pm, surfing the net. About three days worth of naps and aspirin and back on the streets. Four tiny scars, hardly visible now.

(33,023 posts)>>>ultrasound tech advice<<< if you decide to go for medical attention in the am, go w/o eating&drinking anything ..stones will show up w/o the digestive process blocking the sound waves. go to a clinic where there is xray/u/s available. if your labs, physical exam and diagnostic images are needed, you'll wind up there anyway. Shifting stones into the neck and causing gall bladder blockage is a real painful event that will lead to meeting surgical staff,
And since the medical education year just started (july 1) you'd be a really sweet patient for all those new doctors. just saying
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)There is a walk-in clinic nearby, and they do have x-ray capacity. No new doctors, though...

(149,703 posts)However, I am not in the middle of a medical emergency, and nothing but hospital ER's are still open...

(10,000 posts)1) Pick up a phone - now
2) Call your physician's answering service.
3) Leave a message that you need the Physician or the nurse on duty to give you a call at their earliest convenience, and that you are experiencing some discomfort.
4) Spend a few quiet moments of me-time waiting for the Doc's office to call back
ring-ring
5) When the doctor or nurse calls back, let them know that you have been experiencing
6) Let them tell you whether you should go to the ER or wait until morning.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,703 posts)I am doing OK, and therefore am staying put here. If it were a true emergency, nothing would stop me from getting to the ER.
I'm going to check the local clinic to see if they're open in the AM.
I cannot truly tell you how much your good advice means to me...thank you.

(2,682 posts)You are always quick to give vibes and good wishes to others who need them. It is now our privilege to give them to you. I've had gallbladder problems so I know what you are going through. But, I'll echo the advice of others, see a Dr. as soon as you can. When the symptoms are this acute, you could be suffering from a gall stone stuck in the bile duct which can cause damage to the duct. Or not. Best to have it looked at. Let us know how you are doing.

(149,703 posts)I don't have the final word just yet.......hopefully tomorrow.
BUT the nice young MD at the clinic doesn't think it's my gall bladder. The pain's in the wrong place, for one...
The urinalysis showed some white cells. So it could be an infection. I could have pulled a big muscle in my workout yesterday. Pain can cause nausea....and so on.
So, I got some blood drawn, and the UA is going for culture and sensitivity, and we'll know more tomorrow.
Thank you again, everybody!
I plan to stay on top of this till I have conclusive answers...

(55,019 posts)yank that sucker! husband just had his first attack a couple weeks ago, we are supposed to go meet with a surgeon and get it out. He is motivated. This from a guy who hates hospitals - but he hates pain more.
Had mine out years ago, never missed it - didn't seem to make any difference in my life. Sure did hurt about once a month or so for more than a year before I figured it out. ugh. Hope you are feeling better and don't have any complications (they can get infected and/or rupture - get it out of there!). My very experienced sympathies!
