A cousin asked for my help: Describe my situation in one minute or less...

So that I can read it to a judge, in court, before she loses patience and cuts me off...

So I gave her this:

You honor,

After struggling for years to come to an equitable resolution, it it clear to me that my ex-husband is using these proceedings as a tool to continue intruding on my personal life in every way possible.

It is clear to me that coming to an amicable understanding is not his objective.

I am in constant fear that some day he may choose to step outside the bounds of the court and act, physically against me, against our daughters, or both.

My ex-husband has had ample opportunities to resolve our differences in a way that would minimize the economic impact to him. Yet he persists in challenging the judgment of this court in ways both absurd, and expensive.

It is clear to me that resolving our differences would hasten the moment when he no longer has any control over my life, and his sole objective is to continue having a perverse influence over me.

I no longer wish to allow this to continue.

I no longer wish to have him intrude on my life.

I no longer have faith that my ex-husband will dutifully fulfill his alimony obligations to me, if allowed to go free.

May it please the court, I request that my ex-husband be taken into custody, until such time as he fulfills his financial obligations to me, paid in advance, by liquidating his existing assets, or transferring those assets to my name wherever those assets may be located, and that once this debt is paid in advance, that we may be allowed to go our separate ways, never to meet again or have reason to cross words with each other.

I beg for the court's mercy to end this torture.

Guess who's sleeping in jail this weekend...

This is very well written, succinct and to the point.

I wish her luck!

Her ex? Not so much.

He was actually planning to skip the country, and had the gall to tell the judge he was leaving, picked up his papers and headed for the door.

Six burly constables blocked his path, handcuffed him, and dragged his ass to the hoosegow.

His ego knows no bounds, but his intellect has severe limits.

He deserves to be jailed for stupidity, alone.

This morning.

Did not even take his passport, or deny him the right to travel outside the country.

Because he's an automotive executive and, of course he has to travel as part of his work....

My cousin is terrified he may show up any moment to settle scores and then skip the country.

Is the ex an American auto exec?

I don't know how crazy he is, in all his vindictiveness. If the ex works for a major company, he has to keep his nose somewhat clean.

The judge is a fool.

Although he is a native born Mexican, and that is where is family is, and that is where his wealth is.

The judge is an absolute dumbass.

The guy threatened to leave the country right there, in open court, in front of her and cameras.

Yet she insisted in having a second source to attest that he was planning to leave the country.

The only other witnesses are his daughters, who do not want to have any part of the proceedings, let alone testify against their own father.

She divorced her husband, left her upper class Mexican lifestyle, and moved to Los Angeles.

She discovered that her husband's job with the PRI was essentially as the bagman, handling payoffs, prostitutes, luxury homes, etc.

She couldn't handle the complete corruption of it. He had, of course, completely misrepresented what he did for the party.

This case sounds like machismo run wild. This judge is no judge of character. I really hope this doesn't end badly for your cousin.
