One of my clients pulls a totally SUCK maneuver...

1). Get a call today from some guy I've never heard of telling me my client has him working on a "marketing project" and wants the photos I took for the Website (he can't download them because they are in a Flash gallery...no "right click&quot .

2). Fortunately, he sent IDs for photos that were in the REVIEW GALLERY...not the actual WEBSITE...so I had to email him and request the links. He made a comment about "releasing the photos" to him and I explained "creative types" like me NEVER "release" my work unless it was paid for and stipulated in the original contract that I was accepting payment to RELINQUISH ALL RIGHTS.

3). He emailed me back and said he needed the photos for "the Website and collateral."

4). I called him back and said "HI...I'M THE GUY WHO DESIGNED THE WEBSITE, and you are my COMPETITOR...if you're re-designing the Website, you'd better go out and take some photos or hire someone to do it, because you're not getting mine." He said he was "under the impression that the site was done like ten years ago" and I said "NO...try THREE."

So the client hired a new guy to redesign the site, DIDN'T tell me, sent him to me to get the photos, and that's one more reason why the world of Professional Website Design can truly suck ASS. It's her right to hire someone else to do a new site, and legally...but maybe not ethically...she can do it without a peep to me. But sending this collect photos that WERE NOT "SOLD" OUTRIGHT to her in the first place is just...so...WRONG.

You could always call her and politely negotiate a price for the photos. HopeHoops Aug 2012 #2

If they're specific to her site, they're probably not worth anything to you now other than to sell them to her. On the other hand, if they're what you consider "stock", fuck her.
