It can overlook a lot of things, like . . . being different species!

(68,671 posts)11. My daughter brought home a kitten we named Felix. He was too young to be
weaned!!!! The horror...midnight bottle feedings. However, my white pomeranian rescued from an Amish puppy mill still had milk and adopted the tiny kitten who thrived. She was a good Mommy. He grew plump and quite large.
Today, Lilly is no longer with us (miss her so, we think she was 13 when she died) but her kitten has grown into a large healthy cat. I will never forget Felix nursing when he was twice her size...my daughter took Felix when she moved out but when we cared for him when she was away, he always sought out his doggy mom and slept curled up next to her. I will have to look for some pictures.
