Answer: The young actor Michel Ray who played Lawrence's companion Farraj had previously starred in some excellent films, The Brave One (1956) and The Tin Star with Henry Fonda (1957). But he quit acting to further his education at Harvard and went on to make millions as an Investment Banker.
He married the heiress to the Heineken beer fortune and today Charlene de Carvalo-Heineken and Michel are reportedly worth
$3 billion dollars.

Or I would have guessed that any of the lead actors are millionaires, except that SHARIF might have lost lots with gambling...

(6,996 posts)Sharif tells of the director David Lean getting very frustrated with them when he and O'Toole would have fits of giggling while shooting a dramatic scene. Take after take they would just burst out in laughter.

(12,723 posts)Very strange film. They only have one scene together but it is one hell of a scene. They both play German officers in WWII. O'Toole is suspected of being a rapist/murderer and Sharif is investigating.
