The banks were not the least bit steep and it was about 5-10 feet wider, but there was a series of
small stepping stones that allowed me to cross undampened from one side to the other... and there
was a large flat rock right in the middle upon which I could sit au naturel and literally write poetry in
bright moonlight.

I lived perhaps 25-30 yards off the bank for about two or three of the six years I spent in college.

between NY and NC. Hard woods, no pines, heavy spring flooding, doesn't look like much granite

... that's quite clearly over by the creek.

It looks like many a place in western NY state, in about mid-October.

We have "cricks" around here that look a lot like that.

Or it could be in Heaven.
