Sometime between the 1970's and now, Scott Joplin was re-categorized as a classical music composer. I have to agree with that assessment. His musical styles run the gamut from waltzes to serenades to sonatas, all done in the ragtime manner. They are superbly composed, and masterful examples of American music.

Fond memories of her playing it on the piano; the music filled the entire neighborhood with good vibes.

Just like you said: Very happy and bouncy, and intricate.

Listen to some Scott Joplin pieces and you can make the conclusion that that stuff was the "hard rock" of the turn of last century, and he could be regarded as a "shredder" of sorts, using a piano in place of an electric guitar.
