RIP Funky Claude

76 year old Claude Nobs, co-founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, died today of injuries from a skiing accident.

Deep Purple mentioned him in their song "Smoke on the Water" (He was the Funky Claude). He lent his name to Led Zeppelin on an early tour date in Stockholm. They called themselves The Nobs so as not to offend the sensibilities of the Von Zeppelin family. The Baroness was not a fan.

I don't know a lot of stuff about Claude Nobs. All I know is he helped bring some cool music to the world and that makes him OK by me.
