Just saw the most wonderful stage performance at Butler University tonight!

It was Shen Yun Performing Arts, founded in NYC in 2006. They perform traditional forms of Chinese dance and music. There was an orchestra of classical Western instruments supplemented with classical Chinese instruments. The backdrops were films of stunning Asian landscapes and landmarks like the Forbidden City. My favorite piece was called " A Joyful Harvest." Against the backdrop of a vast wheat field, farmers celebrate the simple joy of a good harvest, which will ensure the survival of the people of the area for another year. There was something really touching about that. Famine is not exactly unknown in China, you know.

Be sure to see this group if they appear in your area.
