Regarding the new Monopoly game token...

I am glad they finally have a cat.

But what happened to this token, I found it in a Monopoly game that had been thrown out?

or were available only in various 'special edition' versions of the game.

You rarely see the long cannon, original wheelbarrow (with moving wheel), or the horse and rider, for instance. The car at some point had a driver.

The money bag (or purse) was dropped in 1937 and replaced with the thimble.
